Tête de Moine is a famous Swiss cheese, that gets grated into beautiful cheese rosettes with Girolle machines. It is firm and smooth with a full nutty flavour. Tête de Moine proves to be the best companion of Crisp White Wines such as Pinot Grigio.
La petite histoire: Tête de Moine has been made for eight centuries. It is believed that monks staying at Moutier, the mountainous zone of the Bernese Jura in Canton of Bern, manufactured this cheese. And hence the cheese takes the name 'Tête de Moine' meaning 'Monk's Head'.
Our Tête de Moine is awarded AOP ("Appellation d’Origine Protégée", which means Protected Designation of Origin). The AOP mark is the highest distinction awarded by the European Union and confirms the excellence of a product, its artisanship and unimpeachable quality.
