Coeur de Neufchâtel AOP
Coeur de Neufchâtel is a traditional, soft-white, table cheese, originating from the village of Neufchâtel-en-Bray in northern Normandy. Made from cow’s milk, it is one of France’s oldest cheeses, dating back as far as 1035. Fully matured, the taste and texture is reminiscent of a Camembert; mushroomy, rich, nutty and slightly yeasty.
La petite histoire: Legend goes that French farm girls made these heart-shaped cheeses to show their affection to English soldiers during the Hundred Years War!
Our Coeur de Neufchâtel is awarded AOP ("Appellation d’Origine Protégée", which means Protected Designation of Origin). The AOP mark is the highest distinction awarded by the European Union and confirms the excellence of a product, its artisanship and unimpeachable quality.
